“ONE LOVE ONE PAIN”

Behind the Song: Train people are my people. My great grandad was a conductor on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. I guess I got the DNA. Go west young man! A couple of years ago I was riding the "Sunset Flyer" out to Tucson. On that train I met a guy who was heartbroken. He didn’t have to say it. Seems like trains are a truth serum for strangers. He was going to LA to see his little girl and try to reconcile with her mother. But there’s a lotta Mojave Desert between here and there, ghost towns and prickly pear. A lotta time to think about choices, about somebody’s face. When I stepped off the platform, I looked his way and then stood there a while. I could hear that whistle blow a hundred miles.
